All nine types support all three Home Screen sizes. The size is chosen when you add the widget to your Home Screen, not when you build it, so the same widget can appear at different sizes in different places.
Bigger is not just bigger. A larger size generally earns a second thing rather than more empty space — a number gains a trend and a low/high readout, a progress ring gains a done/target/to-go list, a status gains the history behind it.
If a widget looks sparse, try it one size down. If it looks cramped, try it one size up.
